Who Let the Dogs Out?
Someone must have left the dog house open because Baha Men is back and their doing big things. On Thursday Prime Minister Christie congratulated Baha Men who will sign a recording contract with Sony Music Entertainment.
Baha Men is a Bahamian music group that was created in 1980 as High Voltage, they later renamed the group to the famous Baha Men.
Baha Men was must known for their hit song "Who Let The Dogs Out?" both national and international. People couldn't get enough of that song it was played in the movie Rugrats in Paris: The Movie, MIB and it became an anthem at sporting events. It was also recently played on the daytime talk show "The Talk".

"Who Let the Dogs Out?" earned the band several awards: a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording! Yes a Grammy an award that artists would die to receive, Billboard Music Awards for World Music Artist of the Year and World Music Album of the Year; and a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award for Favorite Song and Favorite Band.
Baha Men is truly paving the way for future Bahamian artist.
Can't wait to see how they will impact the Music Industry again. The dogs are excited they haven't stop barking since.
Congratulations Baha Men represent The Bahamas well.

What type of houses do people live in The Bahamas

This week an article was released on travels.com entitled "What type of houses do people live in The Bahamas" by Nellie Day.
For those who read it you can see why the Bahamian people were so enraged and they went straight to Day's twitter page to express how they felt.
After reading the article I too was upset. The article was straight up deceitful. I would really like to know where she got her information.
I could of understood years ago when persons ask if we live in huts and swing from trees because there was no Internet then, but now you can just type in google the name of any country and you can find out information about that country. I guess Day decided to use our Social Studies grade 6 textbook about the Arawaks and concluded that 520 plus years later we must still be living as they did.

After all the bad reviews Travel.com took the article down and no I won't be posting it on this blog.

Just to answer a few questions people may ask about the Bahamas:
No we don't live in huts
No we don't wear clothes made out of straw (that would be rather itchy and uncomfortable)
No we don't pay for things with conch shells, we have our own Bahamian dollars which is equal to US dollars
We don't just eat sea food
We don't go to the beach everyday and just catch fish (we actually have jobs or attend schools)
We don't use horse and carriage as means of transportation (it's just used as a tourist attraction)...

Opening of Parliament

Yesterday at the Opening of Parliament our Bahamaian ladies stepped out in style from their designer hats to their matching clutches and gloves.
Despite the rainy weather hundreds of Bahamians gathered to watch the Fashion Show ....sorry I meant to say the Opening of Parliament.

I'm proud to say that among all the glamorous outfits there were some were made by our Bahamian designers.
